Exeter Textile Fair

In spite of Lucy's threats (my daughter), I decided to check out the Exeter Textile Fair last Sunday. I have visited the previous venue at the Corn Exchange

Unfortunately I believe the stall holders were finding it very quiet and it was not surprising. The fair was not well situated for passers by and I felt there was no atmosphere in the Great Hall. Many of the stalls had sales in the hopes of attracting the student buyers but if people were making the effort to get to this fair, they would be hoping to find something wonderful. For the discerning vintage fan I felt there needed to be more of a balance. Jewellery was very much the order of the day but again nothing in the 'wow' bracket and some of it rather expensive.

I did manage to buy a few things, but wished I had checked the items more thoroughly as I did not realise some things had faded badly and had cigarette burns and these were not items on sale.

I think the stallholders should draw attention to any problems the garment has, even if its on sale. Had a nice cup of coffee though, served by a very polite young man.

Weather and weekend

At last the snow is thawing, here in the Blackdown hills there are enormous drifts and its taking ages to go away. The weather forecast is looking grim and I feel my hibernation will have to continue. Mind you I have caught up on lots of mundane tasks and slowly the pile of 'to do's' is diminishing, at least the ones that can be carried out horizontal.

I have been unable to get to London to work for some time and was hoping to this week, however the raging storm predicted, means I need to be at home keeping an eye on things.

The electric overblanket is ready and waiting should I need to settle down with a book, my daughter keeps telling me to make the most of the rest, but if I do not get moving soon, I can see I never will - shame!!!
